Finding The Art

February 22, 2010

One of the hardest things for an artist is to get out there and be seen.  Without a  platform to show work and be noticed the artist can feel frustrated and lose their focus.  Over the past couple of months, there has been a selection of art fairs for work to be shown and seen, in Manchester, Nottingham and Salford but surely there must be more but where are they?

In Nottingham, the Surface gallery hosted a weekend selling event, combining painting, textiles, recyclyed wood sculptures and much more!

In Manchester, the event was held at the Dancehouse Theatre with a mixure of theatre, music and art. As part of the ‘Not part of’ festival’ , this event was a great way to get everyone out of the January blues!

Most recently, Cheap Affair took place at Islington Mill Salford and was a fantastic day for all that attended.  It was busy all day, with a great mix of people turning up with a genuine interest in the artwork. The atmosphere was enchanting and each stall brought something unique to the event.

The hunt is now on for more fairs to showcase the work of local artists and makers as these events are a joy to attend and participate in and should not be missed!
